Welcome To BJM,

The “Irmandade do Bom Jesus Milagroso” (BJM) is a Portuguese religious non profit organization. BJM was founded by Portuguese immigrants from the Island of Madeira in 1921. The B.J.M Portuguese Hall is located in Hayward and is used by the community to celebrate various Portuguese “festas” or religious festivals. The Bay Area’s Portuguese community is made up of immigrants from Madeira, the Azores, and mainland Portugal going back many generations.

As a Portuguese community we maintain natural pride in traditions and in the global accomplishments of our ancestors. Generation after generation our community comes together in faith and tradition fostering a united spirit.

BJM's Mission is to continue to celebrate and maintain the religious “festas” and to develop new uses and services to help its members.
